Two men love each other, tear each other apart, find each other again, hate each other and are reconciled. Together, they go through different kinds of relationships – from open relationships to chemsex, a platonic bond to polyamory – in an ongoing quest for tenderness, understanding and connection.
On stage, their bodies intertwine, challenge one another, reinvent themselves. The embrace becomes a language, physical contact a way of rethinking the relationship.
The pas de deux between the performers weaves itself through the soundscape in an organic movement.
Joyaux lourdement sous-estimés questions the ways we love and the injunctions put on the heteronormative couple.
By exploring alternatives, the piece invites us to free ourselves from the idealization of the couple and to imagine new paths towards a sensitive and incandescent space, where desire embraces fragility, tenderness becomes political, and bodies learn to love one another as much as they learn to part.
Biographie
‘I’m a Swiss artist of African descent, queer and from a second-generation immigrant background.
My practice is characterized by the staging of raw, magnetic bodies, where vulnerability, physicality and porosity blend with social and interpersonal themes. Through an approach rooted in autofiction, I explore human relationships and the way in which our intimate stories resonate collectively, building bridges between the micro and the macro, the personal and the political.
After a time teaching myself, I obtained a bachelor’s degree from La Manufacture HES-SO Lausanne in 2019.
My creations – among others, LoveLettersOrNot (2021) and Joyaux lourdement sous-estimés (2025) – explore, with tenderness and intensity, intimacy, the complexity of relationships and the processing of personal trauma.
I develop my projects at the intersection of dance, performance and storytelling, often drawing on pop music and autofictional narratives.
I regularly collaborate with artists such as Géraldine Chollet, Simone Aughterlony and Valerie Reding, while pursuing research aimed at creating spaces for sharing, listening and resonance, where bodies become territories of connection and transformation.’
