Listening Party is a party to which we are invited and that is organized by a group of Brussels teenagers specially put together for the occasion. They sing, dance, play their favourite tracks and tell us how they relate to these songs. They talk about themselves, share their ideas, thoughts and dreams … Sometimes they laugh and sometimes we cry with them.
Listening Party is a party where you can also just hang out, take the time to listen to a track and, above all, spend time together. Supporting each other, celebrating each other, celebrating adolescence. The stage is theirs, as are the dances and the words. They have the power. They do what they want. It’s their party. And we’re all invited.
‘I was born in Reykjavik, Iceland, and that’s where I live. I’m currently focused on a piece with people who don’t have an intellectual connection to dance. I try to make invisible choreographies visible. I work with different social groups, particularly young people, teenagers and children, but also with micro-communities such as my neighbours, people living in the same neighbourhood or even people living in the same building. I have toured Europe with my work and have also led workshops for professionals and amateurs.’

Listening Party est une commande du Reykjavík Dance Festival et de Lókal, avec le soutien du ministère islandais de la culture et de l’éducation, ainsi que d’Urban Heat et d’apap – Performing Europe 2020 – tous deux cofinancés par le programme Europe créative de l’Union européenne.
